Published Nmap v7.00

Nmap is the scanner of networks de facto, and the new version 7 is already available inhttps://nmap.org/. It is the product of three and a half years of work, close to 3200 commits in the code, and more than a dozen revisions since the release of the previous release 6 in may of 2012.
You can see a detailed listing of all the changes, even though the 7 more significant in the new version 7 of Nmap are the following:

1. Expansion of Nmap Scripting Engine (NSE)

As the core of Nmap has matured, it has developed more and new features as part of the subsystem of NSE. In fact, we have added 171 new scripts and 20 libraries from Nmap 6. For example firewall-bypass,Supermicro-ipmi-conforacle-brute-stealth and ssl-heartbleed. And NSE is now powerful enough that even the scripts can take over basic functions such as discovery of hosts (dns-ip6-arpa-scan), scan versions (ike-versionsnmp-info, etc) and grinding RPC (rpc-grind) . There is even a proposal to implement the scanning of ports by the NSE. [More details]

2. IPv6 support is more mature

The improvements of scans in IPv6 were one of the major improvements of the release 6 of Nmap, but Nmap 7 surpasses all of them, with full IPv6 support for ranges of style addresses CIDR, idle scans, resolutions reverse DNS in parallel, and more coverage of scripts NSE. [More details]

3. Infrastructure improvements

It may be a project of 18 years of age, but that doesn't mean that you stay with the old and dilapidated infrastructure. The Project Nmap continues to adopt the latest technologies to improve the development process and serve a growing base of users. For example, Nmap.Org it happens to be SSL, to reduce the risk of trojans and the risk of snooping in general. Also use Git for version control and have an official replica of the source code repository from Subversion to Github. Also have a bug tracker official, which is also hosted on Github. The follow-up of errors and applications are improving and it has reduced the number of topics that fall into oblivion. [More details]

4. Scans faster

Nmap has improved the scanning speed. The new engine Nsock allows an increase in performance of Windows systems and BSD, the rearrangement of objectives improvement systems are multi-homed and settings NSE lead to scans much faster with -sV. [More details]

5. SSL/TLS scanning solution of choice

Transport Layer Security (TLS) and its predecessor, SSL, are the foundation of web security, so that when you have emerged the major vulnerabilities like HeartbleedPoodle , and FREAK, Nmap has responded with scripts NSE detection of vulnerabilities. The script encryption ssl-enum-ciphers has been entirely renovated to make a quick analysis of the problems of implementation of TLS, and scans of versions have been adjusted to rapidly detect the newest versions of handshakes TLS. [More details]

6. Ncat improved

Ncat has been adopted by the family of distributions Red Hat/Fedora as the default package to provide the command "nc" and "netcat". This cooperation has given rise to a large number of bug fixes and compatibility with the enhanced options of netcat. Also very interesting is the addition of an interpreter for LUA integrated for the creation of demons-platform simple and filters traffic.

7. Extreme portability

Nmap is cross-platform and works on all types of systems esoteric and archaic. But their binary distributions are also kept up to date with the latest operating systems more popular. Nmap 7 runs cleanly from Windows up to Windows Vista. By popular request, even is built to run on Windows XP, although we suggest users to upgrade their systems. In Mac OS X is supported since 10.8 Mountain Lion 10.11 The Captain. In addition, support has been added for Solaris and AIX. And Linux users also have easy.
